As part of the biennial, Škofja Loka Museum presents three projects that will be on display between 3 June and 14 August. In front of Kašča (The Granary) building, there will be a light object created as a research into the history of sieve production. The handicraft, typical of the places between Škofja Loka and Kranj, became the inspiration for the work Light Sieve light object, created by an interdisciplinary group of students.

Wake Up! project, which is thematically related to the 100th anniversary of the birth of German artist Joseph Beuys, involves 23 students from the Faculty of Design. With the museum's intervention in the permanent collection of crafts in Škofja Loka Museum, the project focuses on visual commentary on contemporary social circumstances. Students communicate them in the form of a tote bag.

An exhibition of a selection of short videos selected by textile artist and entrepreneur Špela Gale will be on view in the museum's living room. Entitled “Please Don’t Forget to Wear Masks” it features international textile artists commenting on the new normality in witty, engaging, and unusual ways.

The project metaphorically addresses spaces that, as the creators of the project say, are a kind of urban inter-spaces, in fact the negatives of the urban network. The installation consists of a free-standing structure in the form of a triangular prism, where two sieves float: a larger one, firmly clamped and a smaller one, movable. Light shines through them and thus creates a graphic network of shadows with different densities on the ground. These light prints symbolize the city, its multi-layered urban design, structures that are constantly moving from one form to another. During the oscillation of the sieves, the light source is partially obscured, thus alerting the creators to the growing light pollution of the environment and especially cities.
The installation was created as part of the European project On the Creative Path to Knowledge 2020, in which several professors and students from various faculties of the University of Ljubljana and the University of Primorska and partners from the economy and non-economy participate.

Participants:
– students: Karmen Hočevar and Sara Maganja (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering), Jan Rugelj (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), Sara Čuden and Ema Kregar (Faculty of Design);
– mentors: dr. Marjan Jenko, Ph.D. Tomaž Požrl and Marija Jenko (University of Ljubljana), dr. Mateja Golež (Slovenian Civil Engineering Institute) and mag. Dušan Janjič (Robotina d.o.o.); special thanks to architect Janko Rožič.
The project was co-financed by: the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia; Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia; European Social Fund. Co-production: Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana and Zavod Forum Ljubljana

Wake up!
Intervention in the museum collection of Škofja Loka Museum

Project WAKE UP! relates to the 100th anniversary of the birth of German artist Joseph Beuys. As Joseph Beuys commented in his works on the environmental, social and political aspects of the society in which he created, so the students of the Faculty of Design in the form of a ‘tote bag’ visually commented on their views of contemporary social circumstances.
