Richness of the river through textiles

Water is wealth. The depiction of her power is mysterious. The way the river makes its way and its coexistence with the banks elevates it to the throne. The river makes its way, it flows, it looks neither left nor right, it goes where it can. With her power, she is constantly enriched by the life that accompanies her in herself and by the life that coexists with her along its banks. We are submitted to her as well as animals and plants. Despite the fact that water is our source of life and we use the power of rivers as much as possible, it is the rivers on the throne that express the richness of life, colors, depths and shallows with their swirls and heavy hooves. We must make an effort to keep them colorful, rich, and not just in the works they create, even in real life.

Katarina Spacal (1978, Ljubljana) graduated with honors in 2001 from the study of textile and clothing design at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana. She lives and works in Kostanjevica na Krasu. Since 2017, she has been working as a self-employed in culture. She dedicated herself to unique weaving on hand looms. Her creative path is playing with different thicknesses, materials and shapes of threads, which serve her as a basic means of expressing feelings. Hand-woven, unique fabric, as an intermediate medium with cutting, folding, sewing and adding various details, upgrades to the final composition.
