Susana Cereja

BIEN 2023 artist-in-residency

Contemporary Portuguese textile artist and cultural heritage researcher will produce a piece of slow art for the biennial BIEN 2023.

Susana Cereja is a multidisciplinary artist focused on the renovation and development of age-old methods of artistic production. Woodcut, polychrome plaster and the Arraiolos stitch, an ancient Portuguese technique dating back to the 16th century, are some of the methods that have been restored to the realm of contemporary art, returning it to the place of excellence it once held in Portuguese culture. Her creative process is dominated by research, diversity and versatility of means.

Susana is dedicating one of her works to the SUN. The finalization of the work will be possible to observe in Kranj from June 18th to July 5th at the BIEN textile art residency.
