Five Approaches to Collage<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition Speaking in the Words of Another<\/em><\/strong> explores the fundamental human inclination of bringing together and connecting elements that can be visually described as “crumbs”, “fragments” or “debris” of something that was. This concept is based on the insight that our thoughts, ideas and understanding of the world stand on the shoulders of our predecessors. \/ \u2026 \/ The artists presented at the exhibition, Nevena Aleksovski and Maja Babi\u010d Ko\u0161ir (in tandem), Danilo Milovanovi\u0107 (alias DNLM), Ne\u017ea Perov\u0161ek, Iva Tratnik, and Leon Zuodar, offer the visitor an insight into the diversity of approaches to artistic expression. Their artistic practices stretch from painting, video to spatial installations, from manual to digital set-up, offering a wide range of entry points and interpretations. While some of the artists create dedicated and permanent artworks, others experiment with ephemeral materials and processes that emphasize the transience of human experiences. Despite the different techniques and approaches, through the collage technique, all of them provide a reflection of their interpretation of time and space, as well as human existence in the modern world. \/ \u2026 \/ Speaking in the Words of Another<\/strong> emphasizes the role of fragments and pieces in our lives, which we bring together and transform into new stories and meanings. This process of constant creation and destruction reflects the way in which we build a complex and dynamic image of our collective and individual identity from existing elements. Methods of appropriation and transformation thus become tools for transforming our ideas about the world where each fragment contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the time and space of which we are a part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
