Bienale tekstilne umetnosti BIEN 2025 bo potekal med 31. majem in 14. avgustom 2025 v Kranju, Novi Gorici, Idriji, na Jesenicah in v Škofji Loki. BIEN se s programi tekstilne umetnosti, rokodelstva in industrijskega oblikovanja bienalno predstavlja z razstavami in projekti, ki razmišljajo o dediščini, ohranjanju in trajnosti. BIEN oblikuje nove sodobne izraze ter spodbuja interdisciplinarno umetniško povezovanje s projekti in rezidencami. Na razstavah predstavlja dela mednarodnih in domačih umetnikov, s posebnim poudarkom na najboljših delih aktualne domače in mednarodne študentske produkcije. Program bienala se osredotoča na različne publike in z njimi raziskuje učinke tekstilnega ustvarjanja.

Ko sem prvič spoznala, da eter pomeni “zgornja plast bistrega zraka”, je bilo prodorno modro jesensko popoldne, nad glavami so letele jate ogromnih ptic. Sledila sem navzgor obrnjenemu prstu tujca, ko je rekel “Nikoli ne spuščaj oči z etra.” Nadaljevanje besedila vas čaka tule.

Organizator bienala je Zavod Carnica iz Kranja, soorganizatorji pa Društvo Aktivat, Naravoslovnotehniška fakulteta Univerze v Ljubljani in Fakulteta za dizajn, samostojni visokošolski zavod. Projekt sofinancirajo Ministrstvo za kulturo Republike Slovenije, javni zavod GO! 2025 - Evropska prestolnica kulture, Nova Gorica, in Mestna občina Kranj.

Textile Art Biennial BIEN 2025 will take place between May 31 and August 14, 2025 in Slovenian cities Kranj, Nova Gorica, Jesenice, Idrija, and Škofja Loka. BIEN biennially presents textile art, handicraft and industrial design exhibitions and projects that reflect on heritage, preservation, and sustainability. The theme of the 2025 edition is "Air". BIEN shapes new contemporary expressions and encourages interdisciplinary artistic collaboration through projects and residencies. The exhibitions feature works by international and Slovenian artists, with a special emphasis on the best current domestic and international student productions. The biennial program focuses on various audiences and explores the impacts of textile creation with them.

The call is open until March 1, 2025. The central theme of the call is "The Air."

The biennial is organized by Zavod Carnica from Kranj, and co-organized by Aktivat Association, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, and the Faculty of Design, an independent higher education institution. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, the public institution GO! 2025 - European Capital of Culture, Nova Gorica, and the Municipality of Kranj.
