The space between transparency and obscurity

Jana Visser is a South African textile artist based in the Netherlands. Still draws parallels between the cyclical patterns of weaving and breathing, both processes defined by constant rhythms and the interaction of opposing forces. Stretched warp ends create a liminal space between transparency and concealment – establishing emptiness as a dynamic creative force. Awaiting the weft in a precarious state, each warp strand pulses with possibility like a held inhale. Marking the anticipatory moment before a new cosmos takes form, they emerge from chaos as a primordial breath, suggesting weaving is not interpreting creation; it is creation.
