The border between preservation and consumption, between history and decay

Bilyana Tokmakchieva is a visual artist exploring discrimination, violence, and control through human nature and collective behavior. Her sculpture The Wings is part of a series constructing a speculative narrative about the remnants of an extinct species, whose fate remains deliberately ambiguous. Suspended in the air, it exists in a liminal space—evoking both a museum artifact and a butcher’s cut, blurring the line between preservation and consumption, history and decay
