Molecules (2023)

installation of cushions and chairs
scuba, polyester, wood
about 4 m2
3rd Floor, Koroška cesta 4
The shapes are simplified, but the molecular structure remains the same

The installation represents a problem of global warming and depicts molecules in the air that are formed into cushions and furniture chairs. The shapes are simplified, but the molecular structure remains the same. Colourful and comfortable soft seating elements are diverse, each representing its own molecule and thus creating an interesting formulation in the space. The elements are made of fabric, filled with polyester down. The colour selection represents a thermal image of the atmosphere, drawing attention to the original problem of warming.

Kaja Čotar first presented her works at the BIEN 2020 exhibition and later at the Lamut exhibition in Novo mesto, the City Library in Kranj, and elsewhere. She focuses on designing textile products in connection with traditional and contemporary techniques. She incorporates playful and unusual shapes into her designs.
