Fluffy artworks irresistibly invite touching, which is commonplace in the world of carpets but not a common practice in the art world. The artist's carpets are handmade from wool and explore pop culture, dreams and visions. At the same time, they are interwoven with the tension between the often apparent comical motifs and the actual hard and patient work required to create them. The combination of fun and craftsmanship goes hand in hand with the zeitgeist. The latter is further accentuated by the elements of melancholy and boredom brought about by the pandemic and isolation.
Marijana Janković aka NIGHTMARA has a degree in German literature and has worked as a translator and journalist before moving into art. She has participated at several solo and group exhibitions.
