to November 27, 2025

Dvojina is a socially engaged textile project that promotes openness, dialogue, community-based craft, and individual expression.

Two people collaborate on a textile project and together create something beautiful and useful. The project offers an opportunity for two people—whether already acquainted or meeting for the first time—to form a new bond. Each pair’s task is to sew a piece of fabric within a set time frame using simple stitches and patterns. Participants can help each other, talk, and collaborate during the process. In the end, both pieces of fabric are joined and sewn into a decorative cushion. The cushions remain with the participants or the organization hosting the workshop.

Zavod Carnica and Društvo Projekt Človek are partners in the Culture for Mental Health project, a national NGO initiative aimed at researching, promoting, and implementing projects that intersect culture and health/well-being. Textile art and community-based textile creation are practices that respond to health promotion needs and are proven to trigger psychological, physiological, social, and behavioral responses related to our well-being. Social interaction, physical activity, aesthetic engagement, stimulation of imagination and senses, emotional evocation, and mental activation are among the elements of these activities that can influence emotional expression, regulation, and stress reduction—thus improving overall well-being.

Co-funded by Go!2025, the national project Culture for Mental Health, and the Ministry of Public Administration
