The structure of the interactive G-U-M-E modular installation is designed parametrically and each of the components is a unique musical and visual work of art. The interactive modular installation G-U-M-E provides visitors with an open script space that can be changed by each individual individually or in pairs by creating / their own different sound space by touching smart materials and electronics.
People in the city are usually “cycled” into their routines … walking the same paths over and over again. In order to disrupt these routines and direct the attention of the inhabitants of Kranj to the rich rubber and textile heritage, G-U-M-E installation was created. Human experiences in built spaces are not only based on physical limitations, but are multisensoric and are influenced by the intangible properties that these components give to the space, such as e.g. texture, smell, sound, lighting, temperature, and others (Pallasmaa, 2011). Architecture can therefore communicate with its users and influence their spatial experience through its physical components, transcending statics, immutability and immobility and inaudibility, and becoming dynamic and active.
The main goal of such an intervention is to change the urban space that people use every day in a way that they will stop for a moment and rethink their heritage and future in the light of new technologies for a better tomorrow.
