The work is an installation portraying the journey of the deceased and their soul through purifying waters into the realm of the afterlife, inspired by the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Its materiality draws inspiration from Aether— the celestial substance above the clouds, the fifth element—and its inherent ability to shift form and appear as another material. In the work, materials transform and take on the forms and textures of other substances, such as “soil” made from boiled leather splits, “water” created from breathing sounds, and textile “feathers.”
