Matija Samec is a certified forest therapy practitioner and forest bathing guide from the Gorenjska region. His academic journey began in marketing communications and public relations, but his search for a deeper understanding of human relationships led him to study psychotherapy. During his specialization in integrative therapy under the EAG-FPI program, he discovered forest therapy—a method that intertwines nature, health, and well-being. Literature confirmed his long-standing observations about the healing power of nature, and in 2023, he answered its call. Through international training with Forest Therapy Hub, he deepened his expertise in working with people in natural settings and began guiding unique sensory experiences in the heart of the wilderness.
With great curiosity, he explores the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the profound effects that contact with natural environments has on physical and mental health. He believes that humans are inherently woven into the fabric of life, the community, and the natural world that supports us. To him, nature is an infinite space of expression and impressions, where humanity has evolved over eons. He is continually inspired by moments when he helps others feel this deep connection. His work leads people from the grayness of isolation to the vibrancy of the green thread that binds all living things together. Understanding that true connection also requires clear boundaries, he creates a safe space where participants can explore their emotions and test their limits at their own pace. His approach integrates sensory, creative, and body-centered practices, empathetic communication, neurolinguistic programming, and other methods to craft unique experiences where the inner and outer worlds merge through expression, beauty, and the joy of nature.
BIEN workshop: Tuning into Nature
Participants will begin the day with a gentle, intuitive practice for connecting with themselves and the natural world. Through sensory exercises, movement, and mindful exploration, they will gradually release inner tension, open space for introspection, and learn how nature can become a therapeutic companion in their daily lives.
