The artwork combines hand-stitched discarded garments, cut into shapes, and thin cotton thread on raw cotton base. The work was created spontaneously, without a preconceived idea of the final result, allowing the artist to express raw emotions of her inner world in an unfiltered way. Touch of the Sun represents a metaphor for human longing and desire. A strong desire for something big, vital, and distant, something hard to reach or even unreachable, like the Sun itself.
Maya Danziger is a contemporary textile artist, who creates handmade textile works with an emphasis on sustainability, using unique techniques. She graduated from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel in 1990. She has over thirty years of experience as a fashion and textile designer.
