Young Flock builds on previous projects—Flock of Experienced Birds Kranj, Flock of the Experienced Škofja Loka, and Flock of Books Celje—which enabled older adults to co-create contemporary artistic events within safe, temporary, and supportive communities. This time, a new itinerant performance took flight across Kranj, co-created by young dancers. Drawing on the methodology of previous flocks, they developed movement material and text that anchor in new experiences—creating a space for transmitting intangible cultural heritage and shaping new urban rhythms. In line with Andrew Hewitt’s idea that choreography is also a social practice that embodies ideologies and relationships, Young Flock positions youth as active co-creators of coexistence: through movement, they not only inherit the knowledge of past generations but also reshape it collaboratively—with the rhythm, dynamics, and perspective of the present time.
