Birds are creatures with wings that symbolically connect the earth and the sky, where the sun, moon, and stars reside. Saba Skaberne’s bird carries strong symbolism associated with the creation of the world in many cultures. It ascends upward, towards the sun, to steal a fragment of light that can bring illumination back to the people on Earth. The pattern on the sculpture can be viewed by the audience with 3D glasses, to see it in its dynamic form.

Saba Skaberne graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. She is a member of Slovenian artists’ and designers’ associations. Since 1987, she has been working as a freelance artist, focusing on site-specific installations, sculptures, and art pedagogy. She exhibits her works in solo and group exhibitions and has received numerous awards.
