Sun printing or cyanotype is a type of reserve patterning technique where chemicals applied to the surface react to sunlight. It derives its name from the characteristic blue colour that appears upon exposure to UV light. Students have explored various ways of creating motifs, drawing inspiration from either hand-drawn sketches or photographs. They primarily drew upon their own personal characteristics, digitally transforming the motifs into suitable templates for textile patterning. The resulting textile pieces represent their personal, sometimes deliberate, but often spontaneous and unexpected artistic compositions.
