In her artwork, Ying-Ting Chen, an artist from Taiwan, uses pruned paper mulberry (Broussonetia papyrifera) bark. The fibers are beaten and dried to create bark cloth, which then absorbs the reddish-brown dye extracted from acacia bark, preserving the traces of a removed tree’s life. Her creation is inspired by the passage of time. Like a traveler, she moves, collects, and records fragments across different times and spaces, finding inspiration through exploration and introspection.
