Zixiang Zhang is a BioArt artist based in London. She blends biology, material science, and art, embracing unpredictability as nature and time shape each piece and emphasizing nature’s regenerative power. In her living bio artworks she explores human-nature interactions and challenges human-centered solutions to climate change. Like air sustaining life and decay, mycelium breaks down waste while fostering growth. Knitted fabrics symbolize industrial excess, straw represents sustainable traditions, and mycelium embodies regeneration. Her slow, intentional methods and techniques, including hand- knitting, wrapping, and layering, offer a meditative contrast to the fast, impersonal pace of industrial production.
