Through the noise responds to the idea of systems and infrastructures that hide in plain sight in our daily lives. Beneath the surface, they influence our movements, interactions, communications, consumption and focus. Internet algorithms can bring us together but also drive divisions, encouraging binaries over nuance. Our movements, choices and habits are observed by vast networks of CCTV. Big data is tracking our behaviour whilst seeking to shape and monetise it.
Mark Murphy (1973) is an artist, designer and art director that works with collage. He has exhibited across the UK and internationally. His work was awarded many times. He is a member of both @thecollageclub and the @birminghamcollagecollective.
