Sergio Larraín, the Chilean photographer, once said, “What should be photographed is the air.” Through embroidery, the author creates an invisible atmosphere. The integration of the black background and the use of tiny stitches allow her to evoke an ethereal, infinite sensation she experiences when embroidering the air, capturing the feeling the scene emits. In a world of hypervisibility, where we are constantly bombarded with spectacular imagery, the need arises to pause—to return to a more introspective state and rekindle an appreciation for mystery and curiosity. The work explores time defined by process, embracing what is hidden rather than what is immediately apparent. Her art examines the “unconscious”.
