Golaž III was selected from a series of twenty digital collages featuring photographs of fungi, a series created during quarantine when sudden emotions that were hidden beneath the surface emerged. Not only emotions, but the collective consciousness was slightly shaken as well. The association with fungi was obvious to the author at the time, as they share many similar characteristics with viruses – mystery, psychedelic experiences, mysticism, healing properties, and sometimes repulsiveness.
Ana Ščuka (1998), a versatile designer and artist, graduated from ALUO in Ljubljana. Her practice spans various fields, from performative arts, fashion, unique and graphic design, to bio and sound art to craftsmanship. In addition to her predominant practice in material design, the artist is involved in creating digital collages. These are part of the planning process for past projects, created as parallel work or sketches for sculptures, this s why she is presenting collages for the first time at this exhibition.
