Iva Tratnik

Iva Tratnik, already in her early works, showed the ability to combine and introduce specific materials into the field of painting. Her works are characterized by visually striking images and deformed shapes, exploring themes of corporeality through a transgressive and feminist perspective. In her recent works, she addresses the fragmented image of humans, expressed through the use of motifs of real and imaginary anatomy. Using textile collage, which often borders on assemblage, she creates distinct relief surfaces that add depth and tactility to her painting compositions. (From the curator text of Adrijan Praznik).

Iva Tratnik (SI) obtained her master’s degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. She explores expressive and material possibilities of painting and creates installations, textile collages, sculptures, drawings, and conceives site-specific interventions. In parallel, she also engages in performance art, where she experiments with voice, movement, and masks. She works independently or collaborates within temporary collectives.
