The non-profit Carnica Institute manages the Layer House and creates and implements various projects in Kranj Old Town throughout the year, while also connecting with other cultural organisations in Kranj, Slovenia and beyond our borders – all in a bid to bring diverse contemporary artistic practices, musical worlds and currents of thought to the city.
It’s not just at Layer House – you can find projects in public space produced by Carnica Institute all over the city and beyond, including a wall collage made of textile pieces by Spanish artist Susana Blasco as part of the KAOS Contemporary Collage Festival in 2019. It can be found on the wall of a house by the Kokra Bridge at the eastern entrance to Kranj Old Town, and features an image of the Kranj actress Angelca Hlebce, who once starred in numerous films and also in performances by the Prešeren Theatre Kranj.
