Layer House, the House of Artists, is located in the old town centre of Kranj and is the meeting point of cultural and social events in the capital of the Gorenjska region. It is named after Leopold Layer, who lived there at the turn of the 18th to 19th century and became one of the last Baroque painters and a mentor to a group of 19th century Slovenian underpainters. Today, more than 200 years later, the house has been restored and revived. The walls, arches and arcades exude a magnificent spirit of history, which combines with the creative energy of modern times.
