This year, the Fine Art Society of Kranj was very happy to participate at the fifth festival of contemporary collage KAOS with a selection of nine members of the society, whose works are presented at the Small Gallery of the Art Society of Kranj – ZDSLU. As a unique form of artistic expression, collage has become deeply rooted in our art scene, but the KAOS festival and other cooperation of this sort not only strengthens the local artistic community, but also contributes significantly to the development of collage as a serious art form in Slovenia and beyond. This year’s selection of works by members of LDK – ZDSLU is a diverse set of different approaches to collage techniques and fresh interpretations that combine traditional and modern techniques with personal visual concepts of the central theme Under the Surface. This subject is calling the artist to explore the constant desire to discover unexpressed emotions and hidden depths of modern society, allowing him to explore, through collage, what lies beneath the surface of our emotional and social landscapes. At the same time, it invites the visitor to go beyond the usual perception of art and dive into a world where collage is more than a technical ability – it is a dialogue between material and concept, between the artist and the visitor.
