Invisibly Visible
Anja Kranjc started developing her Invisibly Visible cycle in 2019. In doing so, it was her wish that it would one day include many people. She created the first statues in the cycle in contact with her loved ones, family and friends, and she wishes to continue with anyone who will allow her to transform their psychophysical states into figures. On these statues, she highlights what cannot be seen with the eyes, but can be felt and experienced when being close to someone. The body thus becomes turned inside out, as if the inside, the spiritual and mental forms were outside, were the ones we see. All the statues are therefore made as collages. The materials she uses, with their properties, shape the feelings of a particular part of that person. Wax is warm and soft, sand is elusive and fleeting, plaster is hard but brittle, paper is airy and breathing. What is the body we do not see like, my body and the body of another, someone close to me? In these statues, we see the perceived body, the invisible body, the body of memories, the body of feelings, the body built of pieces of our lives.
At her KAOS residence, Anja Kranjc will create a statue from the Invisible Visible cycle.
