Various elements coexist In Ragazzini’s works: in most of them, the theme of identity is probably central, and perhaps he owes it precisely to his studies in philosophy. Identity is not an entity given forever, fixed and immutable, but a fragmented reality-in-becoming (like his collages), so it continuously evolves (like his video metamorphoses). And it evolves thanks to the other. Rimbaud said that “the Self is another”: Our identity is defined and constructed above all in the context of the relationship with the other, with the different. In Ragazzini’s work, the image becomes subject to an incessant transformation from the permanence of its preceding elements – a flux, a digital collage of elements continuously superimposing one over the other.
After having graduated in philosophy, the painter, set designer, and visual artist Giuseppe Ragazzini, dedicated himself to painting and image animation. He developed his own technique for image animation and digital stage design, which utilizes large video projections and mapping. His stage designs and projections have been showcased in theatres across Europe, and he has created videos and stage designs for numerous renowned musicians. His animations have been featured at several international animation festivals. Ragazzini’s paintings and illustrations have been displayed in international exhibitions, collections, galleries, books, and magazines, and he collaborates with the newspapers La Repubblica and Le Monde. He lives and works in Milan.
