Beneath the surface of today’s fast life, there is a universe where silence speaks, a nothingness, where we can hear ourselves, the voice of our soul; this is a journey to the pearl in the depth of a shell.
Jelena Dejanović (1987) uses symbols in her collages to depict echoes of voices rooted in the unconscious, as a connection to the original, wild nature. Each created collage is another exploratory step deeper into the mythological territory that exists on the threshold of the real, suppressed, and imaginative. Symbols and stories in Jelena’s creative world are not clearly defined but fragments of myth that continually expand.
