KAOS X ALMA
Hosting exhibition of KAOS
16. 9.–16. 11. 2021
Alma House, and Memorial House of Alojz Gradnik and Ludvik Zorzut, Medana, Goriška Brda
After three exceptional years KAOS is going on a tour with a group exhibition of resident artists Urška Mazej, Brut Carniollus, Barbara Demšar, Andrej Štular, Eva Mlinar, Anja Kranjc and a solo exhibition of resident artist Karel Kuhar.
Alma House is a gallery of contemporary art, designed in collaboration with the academic painter Klemen Bruno, who also has his own studio in it and constantly exhibits. It is a typical Brda house located in charming village of Medana. It has been refurbished over the past year and represents a different kind of gallery as it seems you can stroll around the apartment building where you can also sleep. Arranged in the spirit of the 1950s, it tells its story and existence in a special way.
KAOS takes you there to see the works created in the last three years of the festival in Kranj by resident artists, renowned collage artists from Slovenia: Urška Mazej, Brut Carniollus, Barbara Demšar, Andrej Štular, Karol Kuhar, Eva Mlinar and Anja Kranjc. Artists in residency are the most prolific part of the festival happenings because their works are created before the eyes of visitors. In Kranj, they presented their unique way of artistic expression and in accordance with the community of enthusiastic collages.
Karol Kuhar will present a solo exhibition of his works in the Memorial House of Alojz Gradnik and Ludvik Zorzut (exhibition space in the basement). Alojz Gradnik, one of the greatest Slovene poets of the 20th century, was born in Medana on August 3, 1882. He was a poet and translator who composed pieces of different worlds, views and cultures – especially Slovene, European and Oriental – in the new , his own artistic expressions. And that is why we believe that the works of Slovenian collages in Medana will feel good.
The exhibitions will be on display from 16 September to 16 November.
Kindly invited to Brda!
