Beneath the surface of the old Kranj Town Hall and in line to the festival main theme, collage works are exhibited that focus on the manifestation of human emotions in today’s complex world, where true emotions often remain beneath the surface due to societal expectations, stereotypical connotations, saturation, or a lost connection with oneself. Current times do not usually allow a person to take some time, time for yourself and for your own, unique perception of your being and your surroundings. The central theme works well for collage as a medium that is multi-layered and consequently full of depth, turning towards the viewer with a narrative, allowing juxtaposition, subtlety, expressionism, and ambiguity. It invites the viewer to recognize various feelings during a gallery visit, not just positive ones. Thos exhibition places a special focus on avant-garde in collage as it showcases works that are experimental, antagonistic, and nihilistic in nature.
